Associate Professor or Senior Lecturer in Biostatistics required to join the Health and Clinical Analytics team in the Sydney School of Public Health in the Faculty of Medicine and Health
* Located with the School of Public Health on the Camperdown Campus
* Full-time, 3-year fixed term offering a base salary of $135K (Level C) or $163K (Level D) p.a., plus leave loading and generous employer's contribution to superannuation

About the opportunity

The Health and Clinical Analytics team at the University of Sydney is at the forefront of innovation in research design, particularly in the application of Bayesian inference to adaptive trials. The team is currently seeking a Senior Lecturer (level C) or Associate Professor (level D) in biostatistics to join their cross-disciplinary team of clinicians, statisticians, data scientists and informaticians. This person will collaborate on the team's existing suite of competitively funded studies, while working to build the methodologic basis for further innovation in research design. This is an outstanding opportunity for a motivated and emerging academic in Bayesian statistics to further develop and apply their expertise to the design and analysis of transformative clinical research, across Australia and beyond.

About you

* has a PhD (or equivalent) in an academic field relevant to the discipline
* has a developing research profile evidenced by original, high-quality and independent research in biostatics and / or related fields of practice
* has a demonstrated familiarity with statistical software including R, and in MCMC simulation using Stan and/or JAGS
* has a developing network of relationships with academic, consumer / advocacy, industry and / or professional organisations, partners and stakeholders
* is an effective communicator, and who has experience in supervising or mentoring others and/or coordinating team activities

In addition to the above, the Associate Professor will:
* be acknowledged at a national level as influential in expanding knowledge within biostatistics
* have demonstrated excellence in research, scholarly activities relevant to biostatistics
* have an established network of relationships with key academic, consumer/advocacy, industry and/or professional institutions, partners and stakeholders that can be leveraged to enhance the standing of the discipline, School/ Faculty and University
* have a developing knowledge and understanding of the key strategic issues in the higher education sector
