PhD Positions (f/m) in Operations at the University of Mannheim, Germany

The Chair of Production Management (http://stolletz.bwl.uni-mannheim.de/) in the Area Operations at the Business School of the University of Mannheim invites applications for several PhD positions. The chair’s research focuses on the development of methods of Operations Research in the field of


• Combinatorial or nonlinear optimization,
• Performance analysis of queueing systems, or
• Optimization of stochastic systems

with projects in airports operations, automotive production, maintenance scheduling, workforce planning, or management of distribution centers. Based on the profile of the candidate, we promote collaborations of the PhD student within one of those research projects. The main responsibility of projects, while working collaboratively with faculty, the position is to plan and conduct research staff, and students. Other duties include teaching and administrative support.
The candidate is expected to have an excellent background in (Applied) Mathematics, Operations Management, Operations Research, Management Science, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering or related fields. Individuals with exceptional skills in stochastic modeling or optimization algorithms are especially encouraged to apply. Candidates are expected to be fluent in English language, German language skills are not required.
