The Centre for Trials Research (CTR) at Cardiff University is the largest group of academic clinical trials staff in Wales, and has earned full UK Clinical Research Collaboration (UKCRC) registered status. The Centre tackles the big diseases and health concerns of our time, including growing resistance to antibiotics, early cancer diagnosis and how to eliminate health inequalities. It achieves this by forming partnerships with researchers and building lasting relationships with the public, whose participation is essential for the success of studies.
As part of our continued growth, a new and exciting opportunity has arisen for a Research Associate or Assistant in Statistics to join the CTR, which is staffed by a range of experts, including statisticians, clinicians, trial managers, data managers, safety officers and quality assurance officers. These staff work with other research groups to develop trials from the basic idea through to publication in high-quality journals and disseminating the final results.
Applicants should have experience in statistical methods and have knowledge of clinical trials, being prepared to oversee trial development as part of an integrated trials group.
To be appointed at grade 6 we are looking for someone educated to postgraduate degree at PhD level in a related subject area (or with relevant experience) and who can be responsible for overseeing the statistical/scientific aspects of a range of trials in the portfolio of the CTR.
To be appointed at grade 5 we are looking for someone educated to graduate or MSc level in a subject with substantial statistical content.
For informal queries, please contact Chris Hurt (Senior Research Fellow) on 02920 687471.
This post is full time (35 hours a week), available from 1st October 2018 and is open-ended.
When applying, please state clearly on your supporting statement which role you are applying for.
