Duties and Responsibilities: The Department of Statistical Science at Duke University is inviting applications for a Postdoctoral Associate in statistical science with strong skills in applied statistics and or machine learning. Priority will be given to statisticians/CS with expertise in the areas of record linkage, data privacy, and machine learning, and Bayesian methods. This position will be supervised by Assistant Professor (as of June 1) Rebecca C. Steorts, Department of Statistical Science with affiliations in the information initiative at Duke (iid) and the Social Science Research Institute (SSRI).
The postdoctoral fellow will be expected to develop new methods and algorithms for record linkage and data privacy, where applications focus on human rights violations, official statistics, personalized medicine, among others. The fellow will be expected to collaborate with computer scientists, machine learners, and those in social science.

No previous experience in record linkage or data privacy methods is necessary. The fellow will be expected to participate in research leading to publications in top statistical and applied journals. The appointment will be for a one year contract with potential for up to two years renewal.

Position Qualifications: Applicants must have completed their Ph.D. in Statistics, Biostatistics, Mathematics or Computer Science prior to the date of appointment.
