Tenure/Tenure-Track Positions in Mathematical Sciences

The Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Texas at Dallas invites applications for up to four tenured or tenure-track positions and up to one clinical position to begin Fall 2013. The Department seeks to hire in the following general areas:

- Up to two positions in Statistics, with a preference for biostatistics and time series analysis as specializations.

- Up to two positions in Mathematics with a preference for differential/algebraic Geometry and allied fields.

- Up to one position in Actuarial Science (clinical).

Candidates should have a PhD in mathematics, statistics or closely related field and a strong commitment to excellence in research and teaching.

Preference will be given to candidates who have shown the ability or potential to interface and collaborate with current faculty members in the schools of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, Engineering and Computer Science, and Management at UTD. The actuarial science position requires that the candidate be a Fellow of either the Society of Actuaries or the Casualty Actuarial Society, and have industrial experience.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The University of Texas in Dallas is a rapidly growing university with ambitious plans to advance innovative, interdisciplinary research and education in emerging areas of technology, science, and learning. The Department of Mathematical Sciences, which currently has 22 tenured/tenure-track faculty, is planning to significantly increase its size by hiring several faculty with outstanding research records or potential and outstanding teaching records or potential.

The ability to conduct high-quality graduate and undergraduate teaching in topics that provide breadth to current areas of strength in the department.

Outstanding research record or potential, and the potential for acquiring independent external funding Review of applicants will begin in January 2013 and continue until the positions are filled.
