The Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science at the University of Iowa invites applications as part of a university-wide Informatics Initiative

(http://informatics.uiowa.edu/) for a tenure-track position in Statistics at The University of Iowa starting August 2015. It is anticipated that the appointment will be at the Assistant Professor level, but an appointment at the Associate Professor level may be possible. Research interests in computational statistics, algorithms, visualization, inference for digital images, machine learning, and other areas of statistical informatics are desirable. Opportunities abound for interdisciplinary research in medicine and public health, economics, environmental sciences, engineering, law and justice, and other areas.

Successful applicants will show promise of excellence in scholarly research and teaching, as well as interest in research collaboration. Participation in the Informatics Initiative is designed to facilitate the candidate's research agenda as well as help to create the intellectual foundation needed to educate a new generation of informatics experts. The successful candidate for this position will be expected to participate actively in the Informatics Initiative. New faculty with expertise in informatics will complement the University's considerable existing expertise to form the core of this innovative multidisciplinary initiative. Participation in the informatics Initiative will be an important component in performance evaluations.

Applicants must complete a Ph.D. in statistics or a related area prior to August 19, 2015, and must be free to assume the duties of this position on that date.
